Oh joy! The internet is back.

For those of you reading this, all three of you, you’ll be very glad to here that the blackout is over. My roommates and I finally got the internet working. So now I can log on any bloody time I want. I don’t have to go to campus, steal “Kryden’s” computer, or do any of the other degrading things I’ve had to do over the past two and a half weeks to get my fix of internet.

It’s not that I think internet is a drug, per se. I would say that information itself can be quite addicting. I mean the internet is quite a powerful tool, don’t you know? Look at me, last night I was watching a Youtube video, while downloading LCD Soundsystem’s “Sound of Silver” off of iTunes, while checking in constantly on the USA-Trinidad & Tobago score. All from the comfort and privacy of my own sitting room, while “Jack Danger” plays Fallout 3 on my Xbox.

This really has been a positive week for me so far, in a strange sort of way. I missed my friend’s twenty-first on Tuesday because I was stacked with homework. It made matters even worse, when for the first time in my life, I started it as early as possible and finished it within two hours. Which was about three hours less then I was expecting. Damn it all. But then, the night smiled upon me when my friend, “Ness”, called me up, asking me if I wanted to go to trivia night at the new bar in town, the Fat Frogg.

Now here’s the thing, trivia games are like a drug for me. We’re talking like methamphetamine kinda shit. I was on my school’s quiz bowl team in high school and I was spiritual captain my senior year. And by spiritual captain, I mean I was the only senior and I answered a lot of questions, so not the captain by any means. I don’t mean to brag, but I will, my team was the first team to beat our school’s teachers since 1987. So you’re damn right I’m going to trivia night.

We did pretty well at trivia night. I wish I had thought of a better name for our team though. As an inside joke, which I don’t feel like filling you in on at this moment, we were named Team V.O.M., but the host just pronounced it as “vom”, which killed the joke. We did win two rounds though. Unfourtunately, both rounds we were tied with another team. So both times we went to a tiebreaker, which resulted in two more ties. So both times, we went to sudden death.

The first sudden death was best two out of three rock-paper-scissors. Which I won by contstantly throwing scissors, man, it was like first grade art class all over again. The second tiebreaker was beer chugging however, which I lost, of course. I’m glad that I won, but at the same time, it seems kind of ridiculous to win a trivia contest by constantly throwing scissors or being able to quickly consume fermented poison. Actually, come to think of it, that is probably the more disassociated tie-breaker I could ever think of at a general knowledge test, drinking a beer to win. Man, that would have made high school so much fucking easier, if that had been the case for class rank.

I did win a T-shirt for the night, which cost me “F-R-E,” free. My team also won a coupon for ten dollars worth of free food at the Frogg. Which the girls took, so I’m probably never going to see a cent of it. Overall, it was a very fun night. I wish I had made that birthday. But it just goes to show you that there are rewards for finishing your homework early.
