What happened to Moon Knight?

16Sep09

Okay, this probably won’t surprise you, but I’m a little bit of a comic book geek. I’ve been wondering to myself of late, “What happened to Moon Knight’s continuing series?” This was good stuff really. So many good comic series these days fall by the wayside because of poor sales. It really makes it so new characters can’t break out on the scene. Here is how bad the problem is, name a popular Marvel superhero who has come out since 1990. Let me help you a little; Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, Thor, Daredevil, Elektra, Blade, The Punisher, and the majority of the X-Men were all created before 1985. Still thinking? That’s what I thought. Get back to me on that one.

Moon Knight is one of those characters that you don’t forget. He doesn’t have any of those fancy superpowers. All of Moon Knight’s combat prowess comes from his conditioning, martial arts abilities, and tenacity. Moon Knight uses a distinctive set of weapons, a telescopic bo staff and throwing stars in the shape of the crescent moon, which he once used to cut his rival’s face off. Moon Knight operates exclusively at night in the worst parts of New York City. What makes this even more impressive is that he wears a SOLID WHITE COSTUME! Moon Knight has never been big on the whole stealth thing. But he is a character with flaws; he’s humorless, hard to get along with…oh…yeah…and he suffers from multiple personality disorder. The best way to summarize Moon Knight is like Batman, except psychotic and sporting four different personalities. Please, Disney-Marvel, bring back Moon Knight. You’ve made worse desicions before, like having Magic Kingdom cast members dressed up as Lilo and Stitch.

On a more realistic note, Jack Danger is indeed sick, but not with swine flu. So I am the only well one in my apartment. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. Went to quiz night last night with Ness, Soup, Miss O, and “Mellowman”. We had the same result that I had last week, two wins, one of them taken away by chugging tie breaker. Got another T-shirt, I think I’m going to attempt to win the second round every week so I can collect all the colors, like Pokemon. Yes, I made the entry before midnight. Hooray!
